PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Permits

Vehicles parked on campus must display a valid permit or be parked at a paid meter Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Permits are not required in most locations from 3 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday or when the university is officially closed for a holiday or inclement weather.

Reserved spaces and restricted lots are enforced at all times.  Information regarding lot restrictions is posted at lots and reserved spaces. The posted information takes priority over printed information.

Individuals may only register vehicles owned by them or a family member with the same last name and address. Individuals are not permitted to register another student, faculty, or staff member's vehicle on their accounts. Permits may not be shared; each person must have his or her own permit.

Virtual Permits

Towson University is currently utilizing Virtual Parking Permits for the vast majority of those who purchase permits.  The Virtual Permit system allows many advantages to those parking on campus as well as better enforcement to help ensure parking is available for those who have paid for a parking permit.   For more information, click on the link below.

Register Your Vehicles - License Plate Recognition (LPR)

The LPR system uses the latest technology to maintain license plate data for vehicles parked on TU’s campus.  The system is used for enforcement purposes and requires each vehicle's license plate to be registered with Parking and Transportation Services.

Individuals need to register each vehicle driven to campus, including rentals and those owned by family members with the same last name and same address. Permit holders are not permitted to register another student, faculty, or staff member's vehicle on their account.

Permits cannot be shared. If multiple family members are associated with the University, each family member must obtain his or her own permit. A vehicle may NOT be registered to multiple parking accounts.

To register a vehicle, the following information is needed:  license plate, state, year, make, model, and color. Additionally, rental or borrowed vehicles must also include the usage end date.

There are two ways to register a vehicle to your parking account:

*Please note that in order to remove a vehicle, you must fill out and submit a Vehicle End Relationship form.

If there are extenuating circumstances regarding your vehicle registration, please contact the office directly.

Campus members can also consider using the Carpool Program.

*Permit holders who are not current faculty, staff, or students must submit a request via e-mail to upark@towson.edu with pertinent information.

Permits

Please note that Commuter, Evening, & Resident permits must be purchased online.

A cash/check payment option is available online; however, in-person payment is required within 5 business days of purchase at the Auxiliary Service Business Office..

Permit Reference Guide

The guide below indicates the lots in which each permit is valid.  However, please be aware of posted parking signs in all lots, as they take priority over any printed material.  Information about special and temporary permits is not included below.  Specific restrictions for these permit types will be provided at the time the permit is issued, and it is also indicated on the permit.
