Handling Alleged Student Violations
If you suspect that a student has violated the University Guidelines for Responsible Computing, you should send an e-mail message to the Director of the Office of Judicial Affairs (firstname.lastname@example.org) providing the following information:
- name of the student
- student account username (if known)
- nature of the violation
Based on the evidence and nature of the offense, the following actions may occur sequentially or individually:
Contacting the student with a "Good Neighbor"
phone call or letter
The "Good Neighbor" approach informs the student that certain actions outlined in the University Guidelines for Responsible Computing are not permitted. Students will be encouraged to be a "Good Neighbor" and to refrain from inappropriate behaviors.
Violations may result in the Office of Judicial Affairs to instruct the Office of Technology Services to revoke or restrict the computer privileges of the student.
Violations may result in disciplinary action outlined in the Code of Student Conduct.
Alleged violations may also be referred to local, state and/or federal authorities.
