General Information

  • Commencement is one of the happiest days of the year on our campus and is at the core of what we do as a university community. Every person and department plays some role in this proud moment in the students' lives. As a part of the TU community, you may be asked questions regarding the ceremonies. To assist you in responding to these questions, we have created a Commencement Quick Reference Guide.

  • Volunteers are staff members who offer their time to assist the other university departments involved in commencement (Events & Conference Services, Parking & Transportation Services, Commencement Committee, etc.) with specific related tasks coordinated through Teresa Hardin and Lauren Averill.
  • Some of these tasks include, but are not limited to: passing out programs, greeting guests, seating in reserved sections, golf cart duty, etc.
  • Teresa and Lauren send out an email requesting volunteers well in advance of the ceremonies. If you are interesting in helping, please respond to that email accordingly. Any questions regarding this process can be directed to Lauren Averill (
