Towson University offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Dance Performance. This is a professional program for individuals seeking a professional career in the dance field. Towson alumni are performers, choreographers, dance educators, and dance arts administrators.
The dance program at Towson provides a strong liberal arts education coupled with rigorous technique-based training that supports individual development of the dancer, artist, and dance educator. All students must audition for admission to the Dance Performance (B.F.A.) program.
Towson University and the Department of Dance have been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance since 1982.
All dance majors have opportunities to perform and choreograph as an integral part of their studies. Students may audition for Dance Company each semester as well as perform as part of dance repertory classes, assignments in composition, senior projects, and end of semester concerts.
Other performance opportunities include the Dance Majors Performance Project; Inertia, a concert featuring Towson alumni, faculty, and students; outreach programs; interdisciplinary projects; and special invitations to perform in the wider Baltimore/Washington region.
