Endowment Opportunities

General Endowments fund a wide array of academic and athletic programs, operational accounts, special programs and projects based on donors’ specific interests. Examples include faculty research, technology enhancements and library funds.
General Endowments: $10,000 and more

Naming Opportunities are available throughout the campus and include spaces such as classrooms, lecture halls, computer labs, theatres and major buildings, as well as academic programs, departments and individual colleges.

Student Scholarship Endowments help defray the costs of tuition, books and living expenses for Towson students. Scholarship endowments often carry donors’ names. Donors determine criteria for these awards in accordance with university policy.
Student Scholarship Endowments: $25,000 and more

Teaching Endowments support Towson’s efforts to attract and retain the very best teachers, foster innovative programs and instruction, honor exceptional teachers and reaffirm a commitment to excellence in teaching. Creative programs and tools, including the latest technological advancements, assist educators and invigorate the learning environment for students. These gifts also enrich the campus learning environment through visiting lecturers and professors and provide ongoing support for significant teaching initiatives.
Teaching Endowments: $100,000 and more

Visiting Lectureships provide funding for travel costs, living expenses and honoraria of guests invited to Towson to give scholarly lectures and seminars. These extraordinary leaders in their fields enrich the scope of learning opportunities available on the Towson campus.

Visiting Professor Endowments bring prominent scholars to campus, usually for one term or less. Visiting faculty members enrich and stimulate the academic environment. Spendable income from the endowment may be used to cover travel costs, supplemental salaries and other expenses associated with the visit.

Endowed Chairs enable the university to create highly distinguished faculty positions to be filled by up-and-coming scholars or researchers who, in the early stages of their teaching and scholarly careers, show tremendous promise. Endowed chairs are an important acknowledgement of the value the university places on its brightest educators, who through their teaching and scholarship provide students with the opportunity to learn from the very best. Both the donor and the recipients of an endowed chair become part of the legacy of Towson University and create a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of Towson students.
