Application Deadlines for full-time international students coming on an F-1 visa
If you require a Form I-20 to obtain a student visa (F-1) or a Form IAP-66 to obtain an exchange visa, the ELC must receive your application at least six weeks before the semester during which you want to study begins.
Fall Semester - July 7
Spring Semester - December 15
Summer Semester - April 10
Students entering the United States on an F-1 visa should plan on arriving at least one week before classes begin to arrange housing, participate in the ELC Orientation Program, and complete entry placement testing. Students who for any reason will be arriving after the starting date must receive permission from the program in advance.
Students already in the United States do not need to follow these deadlines. Students transferring from another school, need to notify the original school as soon as they decide to transfer in order to obtain a release. Click here for a Transfer Eligibility Certificate .
Students living in the USA as permanent residents can apply as late as a week before the program starts.
Students overseas can try to apply after the deadlines, but need to express mail all their documents and include a check of $50 for the application fee and $60 for a return express mailing. We will make every effort to get the I-20 to you quickly, but it is the responsibility of the student to schedule an interview at the embassy and to purchase airline tickets.
Send the following to the English Language Center (documents may be scanned and e-mailed, but it is advisable to take original bank statements to the embassy interview and bring them with you to the USA)::

$50.00 nonrefundable application fee payable to: Towson University. (International money order or bank draft only. Students living in the U.S. may send a personal check issued from a U.S. bank) If you want your I-20 send by express mail, please include an additional check for $75 for a total of $125.
A photocopy of your biographical information page from your passport (the page with your name, date of birth, etc.)
Passport-sized photo of yourself with your name and country printed on the back.
Completed Financial Statement found on back of Application Forms. The bank statement must be be an original copy signed by a bank officer.

Permanent residents and citizens may sign up for classes at any time prior to the start date. An application and fee are required but not the bank statement or letter of support. Students who are not on an F-1 visa may study full or part-time; there are no restrictions. Students on F-2, J-1, B, and other visas may have restrictions placed on the number of classes they are permitted to take.
