Vitruvian Man


1. The study of the anatomy, physiology, and mechanics of body movement, especially in humans.
2. The application of the principles of kinesiology to the evaluation and treatment of muscular imbalance or derangement.

Programs of the Department

The Department of Kinesiology at Towson University offers majors in athletic training, exercise science, physical education/teacher education, and sport management.


The department also offers the Master of Science degree in Kinesiology (Kinesiology (M.S.)) for certified physical education teachers.

In addition, the Department of Kinesiology offers several courses approved for General Education / CORE credit.

The department also offers a series of 2-unit activity courses that emphasize the development of skills, knowledge and fitness necessary to lead an active life. Some of the courses offered in this series include:
