Service & Civic Engagement

Student paints wall for Project Serve

Towson University students step up. They're passionate. They're caring. They're involved. And most of all, they work hard to improve their communities and their world.

Service learning is an integral part of a Towson education. It creates valuable connections between the classroom and the community, allowing our students to take their academic experience to the next level while improving the lives of others. Whether they're blogging the socioeconomic realities of inner-city Baltimore, combating hunger in rural America, or promoting sustainable agriculture in Ecuador, TU students are making a difference.

Meanwhile, opportunities for civic engagement allow students to involve themselves in social and civic movements with the intent to better the world around them. Initiatives such as our Freedom Square free-speech project, Constitution Week political engagement events, and the university-wide Go Green environmental campaign promote active citizenship, advocacy, awareness of social issues, and the development of personal and social responsibilities.

So how will you change the world? We can't wait to find out.
