Non-degree enrollment is the best choice for visiting students who wish to take a few courses for personal, professional or academic reasons. University Admissions does not require transcripts or any other academic documentation to process a non-degree enrollment form.
To be eligible for non-degree status, students must have graduated from high school at least two years prior to attending TU. However, exceptions are granted if you are currently pursuing a degree at another college or university.
If you are a returning non-degree student—one who attended TU on a non-degree basis in the past and has never been continuously enrolled at TU—you must complete a new Undergraduate Non-Degree Enrollment Form following each stop in enrollment.
Apply as a Non-Degree Student
1. Submit online application for non-degree enrollment.
To enroll as a non-degree student, you must complete the Undergraduate Non-Degree Enrollment Form. Enrollment is permitted on a space available basis. It typically takes us about a week to process a non-degree enrollment form. The University Admissions will then email you instructions on how to set up your account for online course registration.
2. Know the registration dates and deadlines.
The Registrar’s Office maintains a calendar of registration dates for each term.
3. Register for classes.
Registration information is available from the Registrar’s Office. You are permitted to register for most undergraduate courses as long as you meet all prerequisite requirements for the course and registration is not restricted by the department. In some cases, you may need to get enrollment permission from the professor and/or department before registration will be allowed.
4. Submit immunization record
You must meet Towson University's immunization requirements before classes begin. Mail or fax your Health Form and Immunization Record to the Health and Counseling Center. After you are enrolled, you may obtain required vaccines (MMR, Tetanus-diphtheria, Meningitis vaccine) for a small fee by appointment at the Health and Counseling Center. For more information, please call 410-704-2466.
5. Understand tuition and financial aid.
Non-degree students are required to pay the same tuition rates as degree-seeking students. There are no discounts for courses taken with the Audit grading option. Students attending in non-degree status are not eligible for federal financial aid, including student loan programs.
