Sports & Recreation
Whether it’s NCAA Division I action at Johnny Unitas Stadium or club soccer on Burdick Field, athletics are a big part of life at Towson. We're home to 19 Division I NCAA sports teams—from football to basketball to swimming and diving, we’ve got a sport for every type of fan. Our football team competes in the 11,000-seat Johnny Unitas Stadium, and our basketball, gymnastics and volleyball teams play in our new 5,200-seat SECU Arena.
With more than 40 intramural and club sports at TU, you can stay in shape and have fun. Intramural leagues field 23 teams in volleyball, soccer, flag football, indoor lacrosse, basketball, beach volleyball, tennis and softball. Nineteen student-run sport clubs offer everything from Ultimate Frisbee to cycling to figure skating. These activities are also a great way to meet new people—more than a third of TU students belong to sport clubs or intramural teams.
If you’re more at home in the field than on one, check out Outdoor Adventures for opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. In addition to on-campus clinics in kayaking and climbing, Outdoor Adventures regularly sponsors trips for backpacking, camping, whitewater rafting and more. Towson even has an on-campus challenge course in the Glen Woods.
Fitness and More
You'll enjoy tons of opportunities for informal recreation, too. All of the resources of Towson’s Burdick Hall gym are available to students, including a state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming pool, basketball courts and a 33-foot indoor climbing wall.
