Purchase Books

The University Store is Towson University’s only official source for textbooks and course materials as a result of its direct access to the most current and accurate textbook information from faculty. The University Store carries the exact titles and editions of your textbooks as specified by your professors. All textbooks are competitively priced, and the University Store’s liberal and hassle-free return policy (with original receipt) makes it easy to return textbooks if you drop a class or do not need the book. To help you save money, the University Store tries to provide as many used copies as possible, which are priced 25 percent lower than new books.

Textbooks for fall 2014 will be available for purchase in the University Store on or about August 1. Extended hours will be available during the week of August 26 (approximate), including move-in weekend.

The University Store at Towson University has a new textbook rental program for select courses. The textbook rental program provides another option for students to save money on their textbook costs. Visit and click on Shop Online.

The University Store accepts OneCard Retail/Vending Points, cash, personal checks with proper ID (the imprinted last name on the check must match the ID of the customer), VISA, MasterCard and Discover. If using a credit card, the person using the credit card must
be the authorized user.

Smoke-Free Campus Policy

Towson University is the first four-year university in Maryland to be entirely smoke-free. All buildings and exterior grounds owned or operated by Towson University are designated as smoke-free, including athletic stadiums and practice fields, parking garages and open spaces.

Towson’s smoke-free policy aims to reduce the health risks associated with exposure to second-hand smoke and ensure that all members of the campus community have access to clean air. For those who wish to quit, the Dowell Health Center provides free smoking assessments and smoking cessation and education classes in partnership with the Baltimore County Department of Health. Free nicotine replacement therapies are also available through the Dowell Health Center.
