Towson, Md. (August 25, 2010) The Office of Sponsored Programs & Research (OSPR) welcomes both new and returning colleagues to the 2010-11 academic year. The OSPR would like to take this opportunity to introduce, or reacquaint you with, the office and the services it makes available to our faculty and staff members in meeting their funding-related needs. The OSPR promotes and supports the university’s mission of research, outreach, and service by providing administrative and support services to faculty and staff seeking and managing internal and external funding awards, and by filling the university’s grant-related compliance function. Because our faculty and staff members do such excellent work, our award volume has increased to approximately $30 million in fiscal year 2010. As the volume continues to increase, the OSPR is committed to providing a high level of service.
Through the OSPR weekly newsletter, Alive Line, the campus community is informed of upcoming funding opportunities, agency announcements and events of interest. If you are not receiving the Alive Line, send a request to email@example.com. For other research possibilities, visit the OSPR website. At the “Research and Funding Opportunities” link you will find funding search engines that will allow users to search for fellowships and grants tailored to specific subject matter and research interests. The “Research Highlights,” and “News,” links will familiarize readers with current and ongoing research, service and outreach activities being undertaken here. TU makes available various internal funding opportunities to support scholarly pursuits and teaching innovation. These opportunities can be accessed under the “Faculty Grants” link at the Research and Funding Opportunities webpage. OSPR will inform and assist faculty with applying for these programs.
OSPR can assist with proposal preparation for any type of funding. Services include budget preparation, proposal writing (for non-scientific proposals) and editing, application submission and subcontracting assistance., For successful applicants, OSPR will provide both fiscal and administrative support throughout the life of the award, insuring compliance with federal, state, and university policies and regulations. The Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Participants (IRB) is administered through the OSPR, and the office serves as liaison to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). OSPR staff members are eager to assist with inquiries regarding animal and human subjects research. Forms and additional information are available at “Resources for Researchers.”
Throughout the year, OSPR will strive to support both faculty and staff needs while protecting university interests. If you are interested in scheduling a one-on-one meeting to discuss your research interests and review OSPR services, contact OSPR at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
