Grading Options

Pass Option

The grade of PS (Pass) is assigned to a course selected on the Pass grading option. At least a 2.00 grade equivalent must be completed to receive a grade of PS.  A grade equivalent below 2.00 results in the appropriate regular grade on your record (usually D or F).  Up to 13 units may be applied toward an undergraduate degree with the Pass grading option.

The Pass Option is not available for courses required for completion of the major, minor or teacher certification programs without special permission from the program's administrator.

To Select the Pass Option for a Course:

  • Complete a Change of Schedule form.
  • Submit the form to Enrollment Services, Room 223, before the end of the session/ term Withdrawal deadline.

After Hours: Completed Change of Schedule forms may be left in the Drop Box, located outside room 223 in Enrollment Services, and will be processed the following morning. Please include a daytime phone number and your Towson University ID on the form.

To Select the Audit Option for a Course:

  • Complete a Change of Schedule form.
  • The instructor's signature is required.
  • Students may elect the audit option through the Withdrawal deadline.
    (See Academic Calendar for deadlines)
